I really love poems like this. Most poems need a bunch of words to get the meaning across, but with these the writer gets it in 3 words and simply perfects it. I love this, it is perfection at it's best. Congratulations on the Daily Deviation
i do not understand why you received so much hate for this poem. this genre of poetry exists (haiku/senryu), and it is not uncommon! (maybe to the da world, but i have read many three-two word poems before!) i saw this and i immediately knew this was a well chosen dd for your skill in carefully choosing these words and aligning them together. you have done an amazing, profound job in evoking imagery and feeling with so little. i love it.
In the early days of computer programming, companies paid programmers by "KLOCs", or thousands of lines of code. It eventually became apparent that people were padding out their programs, and that programmers who could write more efficient algorithms in fewer lines were being penalized.
The moral being that less is often more.
Thank you so much for this wonderful comment, and I'm grateful to you and others who recognize the challenge of expressing as much as possible in the smallest space.

John, this is not hate or judging; I'm sure you're an awesome guy. However, if you believe as I that words paint a picture in the reader's mind, this is as much a poem as one could consider a stick figure a viable portrait. Three words aside, I judge all art by the amount of thought and creativity put into a piece... need I say more here? This 'poem' slaps in the face all poets who actually take time to pen a cohesive, thoughtful poem. I understand and recognize that senryu is a poetry form, yet maybe I should go back and slap a fancy label on that stick figure and call it art. Rest assured, I hold this view on all senryus, haikus, and other such 'poems'. Nevertheless, I'm ranting here; congratulations on the DA, someone obviously appreciated it, even if I don't. I'm sure I'm going to get all sorts of hate messages now, so I will go back to my lair and peacefully wait for them.
